Most of us have some kind of trouble in sleeping occasionally or regularly. In case of chronic problem we mostly end up looking for sleeping pill. So which one is the best sleeping pill? Do you know some sleeping pills names? Can you use imovane or zopiclone or maybe lunesta?

No, I am not here for replying these questions. In fact, I am seriously against having sleeping pills at all. Do you know that even in most developed countries how many of us died due to sleeping pills overdose? And did any of us actually know the correct definition of sleeping pill?

There is a well known saying ………! Laughter … the best medicine

Today I tell you Read book at bed time…. this is the best sleeping pill

Sleep deprivation is due to the high-paced lifestyle causing the lack of time to get the proper and complete sleep we need. When you sleep 2 hour one day and 3 hours the next day your sleeplessness keeps on accumulating. So normally people end up using sleeping pills which is not a best solution. There should be some way to pay back this sleep debt. Many people try reducing this debt by sleeping more and more during the weekend. But this actually disturb the whole sleep cycle. Most doctors would agree that a lifestyle change can do the trick and that there is no reason having sleeping pill every day

Hence, in the interest of avoiding sleeping pills, let change your life style to sleep better.

Fix time for Sleeping and Waking up

Our sleep-wake cycle is regulated by a “circadian clock” in our brain. There should be a balance between our sleep time and wake up time. This will also help us to strengthen our circadian function as well as contribute positively toward regular sleep at night. Experts suggest that we should avoid worrying and thinking about issues and problem at bedtime. If you are unable to avoid tension and stress, it may be helpful to read book. Reading book is the one thing that really helps me in bad times, but do not read book online. Finally, try to convert your bed room in a cozy place by avoiding bright light because it signals the neurons that help control the sleep-wake cycle that it is time to awaken, not to sleep.

Consistent bedtime and wakeup time on weekend.

Regular bedtime and wakeup time is very important, even on the weekends when you like to sleep more. Do don’t change your routine even on weekends. By adopting same routine on weekend will help your body to understand when to sleep and when to wake up.

Comfortable and cozy bedroom

Make sure your mattress is comfortable and supportive. Also use pillows and cushions that make you feel more comfortable. Make sure to holds your head in the same relationship to your shoulders and spine as when you are standing upright. Remove most toys, games, televisions, computers, and radios if you have trouble falling asleep. These items will actually distract your sleep

Stop eating 2 hours before sleep

Eating or drinking too much may make you less comfortable when setting down for bed. It is suggested to avoid heavy meals at least 2 hours before the bedtime. If you digestive issues avoid spicy foods as it may cause heartburn, which creates difficulty in good night sleep. You can also restrict fluids close to bedtime if you have frequent urination issues. Also avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol close to bedtime

Avoid Exercise before going to bed

Do not do Exercise just before going to sleep as it will make you feel fresh and alert. Exercise will also increase your body temperature and it will take couple of hours to drop. A low body temperature is required for good night sleep. Hence If you want to exercise, do it at least 3-4 hours before the bedtime. Late afternoon exercise is the perfect way to help you fall asleep at night

If adopting above mentioned tips is difficult for you do not forget to read sleeping pills side effect in general or imovane side effects, Zopiclone and Lunesta reviews or review of sleeping pill your doctor will suggest.

Moral of the story is… control your sleeping disorders through change in life styles instead of depending on harmful sleeping pills having little results but huge side effects.

Best of Luck  :)

I am glad and fortunate to come across your hub. For the past few days, I have not been able to sleep. The reason being my aerobic session right before bed time. Thanks for sharing these tips.

Maybe you can add iron deficiency to your hub too. I know many people who when started taking iron pills, started sleeping better.

Great Hub!

I agree with you Writer20 that having sleeping pills is better than remain stressed all day but one should take caution not to be habitual to them. Have you ever though about having yoga therapy? for sleep issues . good luck

I have been a bad sleeper since I turned 13 which was moons ago. I handled it okay until I reached my forties and memopause then I gave in to sleep medication. It never works all the time so about every few weeks I go without sleep for a couple of nights leaving me with out any engery and brain fog.

I know this isn't and never has been the best but you have to do sometihng like this to help with todays stressed life.
